About Us

Our Background

Learning at its Best was founded in 2014 by owner, Dr. Jennifer L Collins. She started the business part time, tutoring one to two students for a few hours each week. It wasn’t until October 2019 when Jennifer opened her 110 E Main Street office that she expanded her services.

Jennifer now offers 1:1 personalized tutoring, group tutoring, remote tutoring, homework groups, leadership workshops, special education advocacy, IEP coaching, preschool learning pods, homeschool support and consulting and student success workshops .

Jennifer has over 20 years of experience in education. She has taught and worked in the college setting. She has taught at the elementary school level and as a special education teacher in varied settings including elementary school, middle school , at residential locations and within peoples homes. She has her undergraduate and masters degree in elementary and special education from Keuka College and a doctorate in executive leadership from St. John Fisher College.

Jennifer lives locally and is blessed to share her life with her loving husband Curtis and her son Carter. Jennifer feels very fortunate to be able to help others and to do so in her hometown, a town that gave her so much growing up

Expertise

My expertise is multifaceted due to the wide range of educational experience I have had as a educator. Due to this, I offer the following services:

1:1/Group Tutoring: Primarily ELA and Math, Grades K-8 with emphasis on English and Social Studies for middle and high school students.

IEP Coaching/Special Education Advocacy: Offer  parents and families assistance in understanding their child’s IEPs or 504 plans and can attend CSE meetings to help advocate for their child’s needs and appropriate services.

Note Taking, Organization, Test Taking & Study Skills Workshops: Provide knowledge in a variety of ways to students through workshops to improve note taking, organizational skills and improve study and test taking skills.

Leadership Programming: Offer workshops and group sessions to allow younger adults to learn what it means to be a leader and apply this knowledge to real life experiences.

Personalized Lessons and Support

I take great pride in offering a personalized approach to each students needs. What does this mean? This means that typically no two students time with me looks the same. Each students session is develop to fit their educational needs and consider their learning styles and needs. Most sessions are hands on and engaging staying away from the use of worksheets or other paper means of instruction.
